Friday was our first game of the season, and my team (the
Somerton Stingers) played the Yuma team.
It was a great feeling to get back on the field and take part in batting
practice and warming up before the game. I did well in the batting practice and
had confidence in my abilities going into the game.
Before the game started, I looked up at the sky and smiled;
the feeling of being on the field and the atmosphere of the ball park made all
my hard work in the off-season worth it. I know how lucky I am to have this
opportunity to pursue my dreams, and I am very aware that it could all end at
any time. I always remind myself to enjoy it now and to work hard, because
there are people who aren’t able to play the game.
It was a great game. Our team won the season opener 7-5, and
I finished the day going 2 for 2, with a single, a double, 2 runs scored, a
stolen base and a walk.
